Fallen Art
Unter 3D-Animateuren und Kurzfilmregisseuren, sowie auf entsprechenden Festivals feiern düstere zynische Filme bekanntlich ein Dauerhoch. "Fallen Art" knüpft schon im Titel nahtlos an diese Tradition an und ich verstehe nicht warum man so kranke Stories auch noch massenweise mit Preisen überhäufen muss.
Für alle die den Film nicht in voller Länge gesehen haben (gibt nur den Trailer als Download) eine kurze Zusammenfassung:
Soldaten werden von einem Turm gestossen. Unten aufgeschlagen werden die Toten fotografiert und die Fotos zu einem Stop-n-Go-Film zusammengeschnitten, so dass die Toten über die Leinwand tanzen - und der "Regisseur" (im oder vom Film?) lebt auf und tanzt begeistert mit. Am Ende dieses Films im Film sackt er zusammen und wird wieder melancholisch. Zeit für den nächsten Kandidaten...
Die ganze Story kommt natürlich unpolitisch und geschichtslos daher, ohne Anspielungen. Es ist einfach nur als Witz inszeniert. Der Titel "Fallen Art" kann auch suggerieren: Zu Töten ist Kunst - haha wie lustig und wie toll.
Obwohl reine Provokation als Kunstform schon lange zur Vergangenheit zählt (wir sind schon jenseits der 70er) erhält der Film auf der Ars Electronica (1.- 6.9) die nächste Auszeichnung. Keine Frage, der Film ist gut gemacht, gut geschnitten und inszeniert... aber ich kann mich des Eindrucks nicht erwehren, dass die Machart weit überbewertet wird im Vergleich zur Aussage. (hm, welche ist...?)
Ok, das stimmt so nicht ganz - es gibt genug Filme ohne Aussage, einfach Unterhaltung pur, die Preise verdient verdienen. Wenn das Werk allerdings eine völlig abartige Interpretation nahelegt und nur noch zynisch ist (Sterben/Fallen = Kunst/Art) sollten sich Jurymitglieder doch mal überlegen was ausser seiner Machart einen Beitrag ausgezeichnet werden lässt.

MP3 aufs Handy! PC-World berichtete bereits 2001 von ersten und wenig erfolgreichen Versuchen... tja, zu früh!
Aber 4 Jahre später?? Gebt mir ALLES! Telefonieren, MP3-Upload, Radio hören plus Memory Card! Keine halben Sachen!

Blind und froh dabei
Werbeblindheit ist ein tolles Phaenomen! Anhand der Reaktionen von about ads in feeds sieht man wie sehr wir in der Lage sind, der Werbung zu entkommen! :D

Eigentlich kein Wunder (der wahrgenommene Bereich ist nur wenige Zentimeter bei konzentriertem Lesen, der Rest wird ausgeblendet) - aber dennoch erstaunlich bei der Aufmerksamkeit, die Bilder beanspruchen!

steve jobs: stay hungry, stay foolish!
Was wäre wenn Steve Jobs niemals das College verlassen hätte? Der Erfinder des Mac reflektiert in einer rede an der stanford university über seine leben - hier ein kleiner auszug...
"...much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:
Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.
None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later."
Fortsetzung folgt: "What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating (...) It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith."
